Whilst the Spring is usually portrayed as a hopeful time, it’s also a very stressful time for those in full-time education – course work deadlines, exams and decisions about next steps all abound.
For those leaving college, first-degree, or Masters – there are usually 3 categories of people – those with the next steps secured & are happy; those with the next step secured, but with doubts about whether it’s right; and those with uncertainty ahead.
If you are in the first camp – then brilliant, enjoy the moment and get thinking about how you’ll make the most of your next step, and where you want that to lead.
If you are in the second camp – doubtful whether your secured next step is the right one – then now is the time to look at the alternatives. The grass might be greener over there, but do your due diligence so that you can be as sure as you can be before you say ‘no thank you’ to the offer you have.
If you are in third camp, then now is as good a time as any to start tackling those uncertainties, and a good place to start is probably with a list – either a list of what you want to do, or (if you are like me) a list of what you want to avoid.
The key to each of these is to remember that you are not alone – just about everyone is in one of these states at the moment, and to remember that the Henley Careers team is here to help you through it.
