Implementing knowledge into real world scenarios.

Ben, an Accounting and Finance undergraduate, has just spent a year working in Media:

“I spent my amazing placement year working in the financial division at CNN International based in London. I was given the rare opportunity to view how a global company, with a reach of almost 2 billion people and covering more than 200 countries around the world, operates in such turbulent financial times. I was able to build on my university work throughout my first and second year studying Accounting and Finance, to implement my knowledge into real world scenarios in the workplace.

newsMy main tasks included budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis. These are all key areas that I will be working with in the future in my career in finance and it has given me a wealth of knowledge on these areas which cannot be found in the classroom.

Being able to meet and network with so many great and inspiring people who can help direct you in your career path is also one of the huge benefits of undertaking a placement year and is why I so highly recommend students to go for them.

I believe that having this placement year under my belt will put me a great position with achieving my dream graduate roles. The people you meet in industry and the wealth of experience and knowledge that you pick up over the year is such an advantage and really helps you stand out.

I cannot rate it highly enough and would advise every student to apply for them.
